The New Jersey Devils have reportedly retained a couple of key players from last season.
The Bergen Record reports forward Grant Marshall has agreed in principle to a multi-year deal which could be announced as early as today.
"I think we've gotten something done," Marshall tells the newspaper. "I'm going to be in New Jersey for a few years and
I'm happy. I wanted to stay in New Jersey."
Devils GM Lou Lamoriello refused to say if Marshall had signed a new deal with the team.
Marshall, who earned $1.6-million last season, scored eight goals and seven assists while accumulating 76 penalty minutes
in 65 games before fracturing his hand in a fight with New York's Eric Cairns, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, forward Jeff Friesen says he's agreed to a $3-million qualifying offer to remain in New Jersey.
"It was very straightforward. All I had to do was sign it," Friesen tells the New York Post. "I'm just glad to stay with
New Jersey."
The Devils earlier agreed to terms with free agent John Madden on a new five year deal while former Rangers player Darren Langdon agreed to a two year contract and Jay Pandolfo re-signed for another four years.
